Vulture's Peak
Trilingual
Priority
The Kid Buddha's Pocket
History of the DalaiLamas begins with a comic account of the history of the Dalai Lamas
from Je Gedun Drubpa, the very first Dalai Lama to His Holiness the
fourteenth Dalai Lama, Losang Ngawang Tenzin Gyatso. A second comic will be
done specially on the contemporary history of the 14th Dalai Lama.
H.H. the fourteenth Dalai Lama will be invited to pen his thoughts in a Foreword for the Pocket Histories at
the eve of their publication.
Paying Tribute ….
The Pocket History besides
capturing the life and historical events of the Dalai Lamas, pays special
tribute to their symbol as strength in a world of adversarial politics,
stalwart of peace and harmony within the laws of Buddhist practice.
Henceforth, Vulture’s Peak Trilingual hopes to plant a ‘seed’ of peace and
harmony in the children’s mind as they enjoy reading and learning history, especially
in this age of rife terrorism. The
mission is twofold: to help the children learn and remember the cultural
history of Tibet in an enjoyable way and a tribute to the Dalai Lamas as
symbols of peace and harmony; treading the middle path, the path least tread.
Your help most needed….
This project is marked 'Priority' as
VP is hoping to get it off the paper and into an actual publication by end
Y2003. Your help is therefore crucial. Vulture's Peak Trilingual endeavors to
distribute the comics, which is actually quite thick 300 to 400 pps. in
color, in the Tibetan language for free or at 1 Rupee to as many Tibetan
school going children as possible, via Sherig Lekung or the Department of
Education and the Choerig Lekung,
Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration,
Dharamsala.
Based on consideration of the
community and market size for Buddhist cultural books, the pocket series will
be published in three languages during the first phase ---- Tibetan, English
and Chinese. The second phase will be in German, French, Korean and Japanese.
The foreign language versions will be marketed internationally to communities
via selective Buddhist bookstores and meditation centers. This will assists
Vulture’s Peak to cover costs including that of more prints for students in
other parts of India such as Dehradun, Bir and South India. To recommend distributing points and help
us market the Pocket History, please drop an email to rakarpos@yahoo.com with contact details.
